Port Engineering 101

What you need to know to be a Port Engineer! This session will provide an overview for new technical professionals working in the port and maritime industry, mid-career engineers transitioning into the industry, and senior-level managers who have assumed responsibilities over port engineering but are new to the topic. The technical facets of designing, assessing, and maintaining structures will be presented by industry professionals from diverse backgrounds. The topics will include Port Economics, Container Terminal Operations, Vessel Terminology & Particulars, Port Structures, Typical Design Considerations & Construction Materials, Seismic Considerations, Geotechnical Considerations, and Construction Documentation. This session includes a live audience Q&A segment following the presentations, and is well suited for those in port authorities, public agencies, consulting firms, and contractors.
